What is an Unrecorded Debt
Not all debt tied to a property will be found as a lien in the public record. Some types of unrecorded debt include unpaid utility bills, code violation fees, and permitting fees. Some municipalities or governing authorities may require a new homeowner to pay these fees or past due bills regardless of which owner was responsible for incurring them.
