Ep. 39: Housing Market Outlook with Senior NAR Economist, Nadia Evangelou

The Great Deceleration is a characterization of the housing market’s return to a more normalized pace after the frenzy of 2021. While it was expected that we’d see rising interest rates, economists were surprised by just how quickly they shot up – leading to this braking effect on the housing market. In today’s episode, we have Nadia Evangelou, a Senior Economist and Director of Forecasting for the National Association of Realtors. She’s interviewed by Jordan Norris and they cover the reasons behind the slowdown, how it’s impacting different segments of the market and her predictions for the remaining months of 2022.

"We need to have in mind that this is a deceleration and a return to normalized levels of activity. For the remainder of 2022 and possibly a few years beyond, small but consistent reduction in home sales activity should be expected." Nadia Evangelou, National Association of Realtors.
